Cape Jaffa Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Semillon/sauvignon blanc blends and Western Australia go together like love and marriage, and horses and carriages - they were made for each other. And this biodynamic, low sulfur wine is also a perfect match with seafood. Aromas of citrus juice, mowed grass and buttered toast tantalise the senses, whilst the palate is bright and lively with lemony flavours, a creamy mouthfeel, and a dry, crunchy finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Biodynamic certification guarantees a lower limit of sulphites added to this wine.

Nose: Freshly cut lime combines with herbaceous grassy notes to create this complex bouquet. The wine has a subtle toasty note which will be enhanced as the wine matures.

Palate: Fresh and pure with a mineral vibe and some underlying creaminess to the texture. Finishes crisp with subtle lemon zest.

Food: Asparagus and pearl barley risotto.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Clean and aromatic; complex aromas and flavours running the full gamut from herb/grass through to passionfruit/tropical; a long palate with subliminal sweetness.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Crisp, tight, grassy mineral flavours; light-bodied, but good length and finish.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; the bouquet is complex, successfully merging clean, new world style with echoes of White Bordeaux; the clever winemaking comes through strongly on the palate, which has good depth, concentration and style in a pleasing citrus framework.
