Capel Vale Regional Series Margaret River Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
A big, sumptuous and forward chardonnay whose pungent, rather toffee-like bouquet of ripe melon fruit and creamy, buttery, leesy undertones precede a round, generous and very forward palate. It's heavily worked and quite viscous, with a thick, creamy expression of peach/melon/lemon fruit, nutty oak and lingering hints of wheatmeal.

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A complex, evolved and funky chardonnay likely to flesh out well. Lightly mineral and smoky, its aromas of grapefruit, melon and lemon are backed by creamy, waxy notes and suggestions of clove and cinnamon. It's round, soft and creamy, with a pleasingly smooth length of peach, melon and grapefruit flavour finishing with nutty, savoury and faintly smoky nuances.

Ray Jordan (2011 Vintage) says
Mighty impressive wine sourced from Margaret River. Excellent depth and power on the palate so typical of that region. Nutty and cream with a power pack of stone fruit and subtle oak supported with a persistent acid. Like the mealy complexity in here. A most impressive wine for this price.

Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
A mix of brioche and minerally citrus and light stone fruit complexity hits immediately on the nose. The palate retains a richness with deeply intense fruit well integrated with some rather nice oak. It's a richly textured style with a dry lingering finish.

Ray Jordan (2009 Vintage) says
This Pemberton sourced Chardonnay has a lovely creamy stone fruit like texture. There's a little crme Broulee richness and a sliver or two of cashew. The palate is restrained and focused with a creamy richness that carries to a long finish.

Smoky/toasty nose - quite buttery - with a contrasting tight, crisp and minerally palate. Nice style. 3-5
