Carrick Excelsior Central Otago Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
From mature, estate-grown vines at Bannockburn, the 2007 vintage was matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (30 per cent new). A serious yet sensuous ted, it is richly coloured, bold and fruity, with dense plum, herb, spice and liquorice flavours, showing lovely fruit sweetness and concentration. It should be very long-lived; open 2012+.

Michael Cooper (2005 Vintage) says
The debut 2005 vintage, released in 2009, is from mature, estate-grown vines at Bannockburn. Harvested at over 24 brix, it was fermented mostly with indigenous yeasts, matured in French barriques (30 per cent new), and oak-aged for six months longer than the Carrick Pinot Noir (above). Deep and still youthful in colour, it is beautifully scented, with a spicy, nutty bouquet. Still developing, it is very rich and complex, with deep cherry, plum and spice flavours, balanced tannins and lovely generosity and flow. Drink now or cellar.
