Cracka Review

Profondo translates to 'deep' in English, which is a fair description of this wine. Made from a blend of cab sav, shiraz and malbec, it still shows choc-coated dark berries on the nose, along with whiffs of dried herbs and sweet spices. The palate is fuller-bodied and still showing some tightness, with fruit and savoury flavours, some slinkiness to the tannins, and a decent earth and cedar finish. Drinking right in the zone now, but should hold for another couple of years.

Winemaker's Notes

The resultant wine is deep in colour, with a complex nose of blackcurrant, earth, dried herbs and spice. The palate is rich in flavour and texture, with full silky tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Rob Geddes MW (2006 Vintage) says
Careful winemaking gives generous flavour and velvety tannins. Cabernet is dominant in the cool years and shiraz in the warm years and malbec gives lifted fruit.
