James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
All up, a well-made medium-bodied wine that clearly expresses its cool-climate origins, with red and black cherry fruit, spices and fine-boned tannins; the light twist of mint/eucalypt does not disfigure the wine, and the oak is subtle.

Well-made wine with a subtle bouquet showing hints of mint and earthy notes and a rich, peppery palate.

WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
A heavy hand here with the oak, but theres some great peppery green fruits lurking below.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Light- to medium-bodied; pleasant mouthfeel; some spicy, savoury overtones to black fruits; fine tannins.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
A leathery, meaty shiraz already showing plenty of developed character. Rather old-fashioned, its tiring expression of plums and small berries slowly emerges over its firm chassis of chalky, drying tannins. Backed by herbal undertones, it's gamey and peppery, but does come to show genuine elegance, restraint and lingering savoury qualities with aeration.
Australian Wine Annual 2008 2007
Jeremy Oliver (2003 Vintage) says
Deeply spicy, musky and peppery aromas of dark plums and blackberries are backed by meaty, earthy undertones. Very firm and bony, It's deeply fruited, evolved and gamey, with brambly, leathery and spicy fruit tightly knit with robust, sinewy tannins. It finishes long and savoury, and has the fruit and structure to develop further.
Australian Wine Annual 2007 2006
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; blackberry, plum and prune, but not jammy; fine, savoury tannins, and good length. Northern Slopes Zone.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Clean, moderately ripe plum, spice and raspberry aromas, adding blackberry to the mix on the palate; soft tannins and vanilla oak. Hastings River and the Northern Slopes Zone.
