Castel Firmian Pinot Nero

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Pinot nero is just another name for pinot noir, and this Italian version is certainly an intriguing drink. Scents of red and black fruits adorn the nose with sniffs of roses, soft spices and earthiness. The palate is medium-bodied and graceful with red fruit and plummy flavours, licks of anise, mellow tannins, and a dry, fruity finish.

Winemaker's Notes

The name Pinot refers to the pinecone shape of this varietal’s tight grape bunches The hilly regions of the Faedo and Pressano villages provide the temperate zones that Pinot Nero thrives in.

Appearance: Ruby red with flecks of garnet.

Nose: Ripe fruits such as wild cherries and strawberries, black currant, flowery hints of violet. The wine is more and more enriched by the scent of spices, particularly (black pepper and underbrush, derived from the brief maturation process in oak barrels.

Palate: Dry with delicate and elegant tannin structure, balanced by a pleasant acidity and fruity taste.

Food: Excellent companion to white and red roasted meats, both moderately spicy, and middle season cheeses.
