Cracka Review

If you’ve lived a tranquil life in Italy and come from a family with a rich, winemaking heritage then it’s fair to say there may well be a tradition of wine coursing through his veins. Setting up in Denmark, WA it was a given that he would turn his hand at making wine in Oz and we are pleased he did. This wine personifies the WA white blend, crisp, refreshing with fruit vibrancy, lingering flavours and clean acids. Perfect for summer drinking.

Winemaker's Notes

This is a fine example of the quintessential Western Australian partnering of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Light pale straw in colour. The nose is dominated by classic Pemberton Sauvignon Blanc characters of tropical gooseberry and paw paw. The Semillon imparts a textured lemon zest influence. All of these flavours surround an intense herbaceous core. Extended lees contact and partial barrel fermentation have provided background structure and mouthfeel with barely perceptible aromatic influence. This is a serious wine, more complex than the typical examples of this blend due o the various winemaking treatments, however the intense vibrancy is best enjoyed now or over the next 3 years.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Vibrant green hue; a bright, fresh and focused bouquet of citrus, tropical fruit notes and a splash of fresh pea pod; the palate is linear and minerally, with engaging acidity and depth of fruit; long, even and poised.

A clean, fragrant and lively bouquet opens proceedings with passionfruit, a touch of lychee and a glimpse of herb, the palate introducing citrus as the main theme, with an invigorating finish.

A cracking good wine from this new producer. It's made up of Pemberton savvy and Frankland River semillon. It's a light bodied wine but with heaps of powerful lingering intensity on the palate. A little bit of wile yeast germented in French puncheons adds complexity while it retains its zingy mouth feel.
