Ken Gargett (2004 Vintage) says
Gabbiano may sound like a character in an Italian farce taking the piss out of Mussolini, but the Gabbiano family offers a range of Traditional chianti and supertuscans with my favourite Italian label on the front. For something different, try this. It is their entry point wine, so if you like it, things only get better. Rustic, even a touch tough, but cheap and ideal with a basic stew or even a good pizza.

One for lovers of old-fashioned Chianti: it's extremely savoury and dry, with flavours of fennel and cinnamon and old armchairs, but it's intriguing, quite complex for the price and good with a bowl of Tuscan bean soup.
