Cracka Review

What a lovely medium-bodied red this is! Made from tempranillo and grenache, it's a juicy, elegant style that shows abundant cherries on the nose, along with red berries and whiffs of chocolate. The palate is smooth and velvety, with a succulent core of red cherry flavours, fine but gentle tannins and a long, juicy finish, with a delicate lick of earthiness and spice in the tail. Great with nachos, tacos or some Italian sausages.

Winemaker's Notes

Three parcels of Tempranillo were individually matured for seven months, half in used American and French Puncheons and half in used French Hogsheads, then blended with Garnacha from 50 year old vines in the Lyndoch foothills picked late February, giving the ripe juicy fruit needed to flesh out the structure of Tempranillo’s complex and savoury fruit. The final Blend is 77% Tempranillo and 23% old vine Garnacha.

Cherry and Cola aromas mingle with hints of chocolate and spicy florals. A dark yet luminous crimson colour hints at the rich semi-savoury dark cherry and cola palate that finishes with a hint of Grenache red cherry juiciness.

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
Vivid purple-crimson; we don’t know the blend percentages, and hence the size of the forces of the combatants, but the outcome is a win-win; juicy red berry/cherry/ raspberry fruits are the order of the day, the tannins fine.
