Chain of Ponds Novello Nero Sangiovese Barbera Grenache

Out of Stock

Cracka Review

Colour - Deep strawberry/cherry red with cherry red hue.

Bouquet - Initially you are greeted with intense fresh strawberry and dark cherry fruits. Hints of dried herbs and cinnamon spice add layers of complexity to the nose.

Palate - On the palate you are greeted upfront by a luscious array of dark cherry, strawberry and red stone fruits, with hints of blueberries. There is a good balance of savouriness with a hint of dried herbs. A well balanced acid structure supports the wine while complimenting the interesting and persistent sour cherry and savoury chestnut finish. Firm and slightly chalky tannins from the Nebbiolo are slightly drying and are complemented by fruit sweetness making it an ideal food wine. Enjoy slightly below room temperature with a tomato based pasta or gourmet pizza.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
The savoury/sour cherry sangiovese component is the driver in this light-bodied, easy-access wine.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Strongly spicy red fruit aromas; beguiling mouthfeel; gently sweet red fruits and a touch of sweetness on the finish; an alternative midpoint between rose and dry red; 67% Sangiovese, 22% Grenache, 11% Barbera.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Fragrant, spicy black cherry/berry aromas and flavours, the sweet spicy characters on the palate offset by savoury tannins.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Bright purple-red; the soft and clean bouquet has sweet, ripe, small berry fruit. The luscious, entirely fruit-driven palate ranges through raspberry, blackberry and cherry. A blend of 40 per cent Barbera, 32 per cent Grenache and 28 per cent Sangiovese.
