Chalice Bridge Merlot

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
Well you could argue that there's too much spicy, woody oak flavour here but gosh, what a ripping merlot. It tastes of vanilla and sawn wood, dark olives, liquorice and blackberries. It has lots of chewy chalky grippy tannin, which is why we'd describe it as both smooth and rugged. Best of both worlds in a way. Curranty, spicy, mouth filling length. Excellent merlot.
