Chalice Bridge The Quest Single Vineyard Merlot

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Typically varietal with plum and mulberry aromas, some attractive chocolate nuances as well as cedar and cigar. It’s wonderfully balanced with just the right combination of fruit and tannin weight providing a well-proportioned drinking wine. If you’re friends say they don’t like a red, give them this.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Dark ruby with striking purple highlights.

Nose: The nose is full of sweet, brambly red and black fruits, with lovely violets and lingering aromas of mocha and cedar.

Palate: Rich and intense plums, mulberries and raspberries are finely integrated with lovely cedary oak and a touch of black olive. Cedar and cigar notes combine with soft, silky tannins to produce a southern Margaret River merlot with great structure, length and wonderfully balanced acidity.

Food: The perfect compliment for a pan-seared boneless duck breast with softened figs.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Positive purple-crimson; fragrant aromas of plum, cassis and spice flow through the medium-bodied palate, with excellent texture and structure, the palate long, the aftertaste fresh and juicy.
