Chalk Hill Rose

Cracka Review

What’s not to love about a pink wine? Or more to the point, a pink wine from McLaren Vale, and one of the most exciting wineries in the region. This perky wine is made with Grenache grapes, so it’s filled with generous flavours of berries and cream. The palate is rich in floral and fruity flavours with some nicely grippy tannins and a long, dry finish. This is exactly the kind of wine you need chilled on a picnic as you can throw it at almost any style of food and it will match admirably.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Pink Salmon

Aromatics: Gooseberry, vine flower with notes of whipped cream and crushed berries

Palate: A lovely delicate palate which has floral notes combining with crunchy firm berries. Savoury tannins finish off the wine ensuring it is an excellent food wine.

Food Pairing: Perfect with a selection of cured meats and cheeses.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
Chalk Hill's '09 rosé is lighter and brighter in the glass and has plenty of fine, sweet fragrance, rose petals and fine, musky red fruits. The palate is zesty and crisp, bringing fresh strawberry and cherry flavour into brilliantly clean focus.
