Henri Giraud may not be one of the best known Champagne producers, but they have been doing it for 12 generations, and are known for producing value for money Champagnes. Made from 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay, this Champagne has seen 100% oak (a practice not common in Champagne, except for Krug and Bollinger), and shows rich red berries, stone fruits, pepper spice and buttered toast on the nose, whilst the palate is quite plush and generous, with peach and citrus flavours, a slight creaminess to the mouthfeel, a zip of lemony acidity, fine bubbles, and short grip on the decent finish.

Winemaker's Notes

A fine golden colour with the blonde highlights typical of Pinot Noir wines that have reached maturity.Touches of peach and pair, vanilla and spices (white pepper) against a background of lemon preserve, which gives it a certain freshness. Then comes its maturity and heartiness… The initial crispness quickly gives way as the overall wine flavour opens out. Its body, consistence and even fullness give the wine its structure. The mineral notes and light tannins contribute to a long, winey, and warm finish with a silky harshness over aromas of bitter almonds and biscuit.
