Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Long and savoury, this very stylish and convincing rose has a fragrance of raspberries and cherries backed by some meaty, gamy undertones, nuances of bakery yeasts and a typically Moet-like floral lift. Very elegant but slightly confectionery, it's very creamy and complete, revealing a deep, lightly phenolic palate whose lingering core of pristine fruit ultimately finishes smooth and gentle with creamy acids.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Delicately perfumed with a mere suggestion of red fruit framing the more prominent citrus aromas; the palate is fine, with good texture and lightness to the finish

Nick Stock (2005 Vintage) says
This takes a more orange/salmon colour in the glass and makes an altogether more savoury impression on the nose with dried red fruits and gentle spicy tinges. The palate's smooth and round, holding bright acidity and fleshy red cherry flavour right the way through.

Rob Geddes MW (2005 Vintage) says
Rose tends to mean sweeter. This wine has strawberry and beetroot, a rich full body, sophistication, and subtle flavours. Smoky yeastiness comes with time.

Pale salmon; delicious fresh and lively wine, which has a lovely mixture of small red fruits and citrus, the dancing finish and aftertaste zesty and dry.

Smooth and creamy, with a slightly meaty scent of raspberries, cherries, sweet red flowers and bakery yeasts. Its long, crackly and powdery palate of confectionery cherry and raspberry fruit culminates in a shapely and tightly focused finish of balance and elegance. Wrapped up in a vibrant acidity, it's pleasingly sculpted and assertive.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Pale, clear pink; no doubting the pinot influence, both from added pinot wine and from base components, yet exceptionally delicate and fresh; truly lovely rose.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
A fine, dry and savoury rose with a delightful colour and creamy, slightly meaty and savoury expression of vibrant raspberry and cherry fruit. It's long and lightly chalky, with a creamy, crackly effervescence and a fine length of fruit that finishes crisp and tangy, with lively and refreshing acidity. Elegant and finely crafted.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Complex, convincing, supple mouthfilling style; the auto-suggestion of more strawberry; good length and balance; nice acidity.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Salmon pink; a typically complex spicy/nutty/strawberry bouquet, then a rich mid-palate, excellently balanced, moving through to a long, dry finish. Fifty-three per cent Pinot Noir, 45 per cent Chardonnay, 2 per cent Pinot Meunier, with 10 per cent Pinot Noir left on skins.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (1995 Vintage) says
The colour is quite deep, strongly pink, the bouquet smooth with the benefit of over two years on yeast lees showing though in the autolytic bready notes. The mid-palate fruit flesh and relatively soft finish all contribute to the attractive Rose style.

Nick Stock says
Subtly smoky red fruit nose here, quite rich red fruits and five-spice complexity. The palate is rich and fleshy, more red fruit flavour here, quite primary and a gently confected, sweet berry finish.
The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010
James Halliday says
Bright strawberry-pink; abundant fruit aromas and flavours, with a mix of stone fruit and strawberry; good length and expected balance; Chardonnay/Pinot Noir and a small amount of pinot noir red wine; 18 months' yeast lees.
