Chateau Patache d'Aux Medoc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

As an intro to Bordeaux reds, this well-priced number will do the trick. Made from a cabernet-dominant blend, there's a touch of what they call 'old world meets new world' vibe, with some fruity plums, dark berries and soft spices on the nose, along with some earthy savouriness and tobacco leaf with a touch of cedar. The palate is medium-boded, dry and easygoing, with soft tannins and friendly acidity that will see it drink well over now and next couple of years.

Winemaker's Notes

On a clayey and chalky terroir in Bégadan, not far from the Gironde, the vineyard covers 43 hectares. The grape varieties composed of 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, allow the winemaker to make a very personnalized style to this wine for each vintage.

Powerful and concentrated, the wines from Patache d'Aux present a remarkable potential for aging and it is always astonishing to observe the aromatic freshness and the solid tannic structure of some of the vintages after 10 or 15 years.

Brilliant dark robe. Spicy nose. The mouth is rich, complex and fleshy. Beautiful black fruits aromas. Tannins are generous. Beautiful persistence in mouth.
