James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Very good colour; shows the great vintage to full advantage; lovely blackberry, plum fruit with spicy/earthy/licorice nuances; long finish.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Twenty-five-year-old vines give that extra concentration; lovely red and black fruits; fine, silky tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Clear red-purple; a strongly regional bouquet with a mix of leafy, leathery, earthy overtones to the fruit leads into a medium-bodied palate, basically savoury in its flavour spectrum, and belies its 13.60 alcohol; needs a little more flesh on its bones, but that may come with time.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Medium to full red-purple; solid, savoury, slightly earthy/regional dark berry fruit and a whisk of oak on the bouquet are followed by a rich, ripe and concentrated palate with dark cherry /berry/plum, a hint of chocolate; finishes with fine, ripe tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2003 2002
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense purple-red; the bouquet is concentrated and complex, giving full expression to Hunter terroir. The palate, too, is classic, earthy Hunter shiraz, which has the intensity and depth to evolve over decades.
