Chateau Reynella Vintage Port

Jeremy Oliver (1998 Vintage) says
About as good as it gets for traditional Australian vintage port. A heady, spicy, spirity and deeply concentrated aroma of briary cassis, plums and violets overlies a tarry, treacle-like background and chocolate/vanilla oak. Warm, ripe and spirity, its velvet-smooth and sumptuous palate reveals layers of dark plum and berry fruit before finishing long and savoury with a firm spine of powdery tannins. Excellent balance and integration.

Dense purple-red; dark, spicy, blackberry and plum pudding aromas, with clean fortifying spirit, are followed by a powerful, spicy black fruit palate with some Christmas cake flavours; drier and longer than the traditional Reynella Vintage Port style.

Ken Gargett (1997 Vintage) says
This is the best vintage port in Australia and it is a wonderful thing that it is still being produced because no one drinks vintage port anymoreÑand I mean no one. Oh well, there's that bloke up the back there who has a collection with racehorses on them, and there's that woman over there who still likes a little glass after dinner, but that's about it. And it's a bloody shame because this wine is fantastic, and it's less than $30. A steal.
