This cab sav blend from the Graves region of Bordeaux is a medium-bodied number that shows black currants, dark plums, crushed leaf and a generous whiff of toasted cedar oak on the nose. Then the palate chimes in with some plush plum, star anise and toasty flavours, some fine but slightly grippy tannins, mellowing acidity, and a smooth, bright finish. It's drinking well now, and would be great with steak at lunch.
The colour and tannins of the wine are delicately extracted by employing traditional vinification methods and long maceration (20 days). The resulting wine combines power and refinement. It exhibits a deep purple-crimson robe, a nose of violets and ripe red fruits with hints of vanilla oak. A structured wine with an ample, round finish enhanced by liquorice tannins.
