Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
A mix of rich fruit cake, dark earth and dry savoury notes make a compelling opening in the nose. The palate is rich and dense with lots of blackberry and plummy characters. The tannins are firm and tight. The fleshy plate offers lots of rich fruit flavours with that savouriness providing a good balance.

Ray Jordan (2007 Vintage) says
Deep dense opaque colour. Bouquet of savoury plum and spices with a liberal whack of dark chocolate and coffee bean. The palate is firm and powerfully tight though with admirable flesh and opulence. Structurally very good with some excellent medium term ageing potential.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Strong, bright purple-red; classic black fruits with touches of spice and licorice lead into a medium-bodied, smooth, fruit-driven, blackberry and plum flavours.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is quite fragrant, with moderately intense liquorice, cedar and spice aromas. On the palate cedar, chocolate and some red berry/cherry fruit is supported by soft tannins on quite a long finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2000 1999
James Halliday (1994 Vintage) says
Dense purple-red; a rich, voluptuously ripe bouquet with plum, prune and dark chocolate aromas leads on to a lush, mouthfilling palate with ripe, dark cherry and plum fruit, and just a hint of oak.
