Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
The 1999 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Grown at Te Awanga in Hawke's Bay and matured in seasoned oak casks, it's a decent, sturdy red, with medium-full colour and sweet fruit characters. Supple and mouthfilling, savoury and spicy, it's an excellent quaffer. Drink now onwards.

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
The 1996 vintage is a Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend from a year in which the winery's top Cabernet Sauvignon (Reserve Old Olive Block) and Reserve Cabernet Franc were not made. Grown at Te Awanga in Hawke's Bay and matured for 18 months in seasoned oak casks, it's a decent, sturdy red, berryish, spicy and slightly nutty. It's not exciting, but a very satisfying second label. Drink now.
