Clifford Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here's an appealing, earlier drinking pinot noir out of Marlborough that won’t put too much strain on the wallet. It's a medium-bodied number that shows red berries, cherries, plums and liquorice on the nose, whilst the palate is nicely spicy with some juicy red fruits, gentle tannins, and a soft, light-framed finish. It will go with a range of food from salmon through to duck.

Winemaker's Notes

Clifford Bay Pinot Noir is always a wine of elegance and balance. The bright garnet colour opens the door for vibrant aromatics packed with black cherries, violets, red fruits and spicy French oak. The flavours are intensely fruity, lush and delicious.

WINESTATE (2010 Vintage) says
Ruby-hued red, floral and sweet-fruited, with satisfying depth of ripe plum and red berry flavours, slightly spicy and smooth. Lots of drink-young appeal.

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
The ruby-hued 2003 vintage is a charming, fruit-driven style with strong plum and cherry flavours, fresh and vibrant, but no real complexity, at least in its youth.
