A fine, supple and gentle shiraz likely to build weight and depth. Scented with spicy, faintly minty aromas of raspberries, redcurrants and cassis backed by notes of white pepper, cloves and cinnamon, it's lifted by scents of red and blue flowers and restrained cedar/vanilla oak. Medium in weight, with a fine, powdery texture beneath its sappy, but intense core of bright black and red berry flavours, it's smooth and savoury, finishing with nuances of charcuterie meats, mint and menthol.

A wine that was conceived out of the frost-ravaged 2007 vintage; Kirk has decided to continue with it thanks to an enthusiastic reception. It shows plenty of the trademark fragrance; not as exotic as the flagship wine, quite open-knit, creamy oak, it's already in stride. It has cool blackberry and dark cherry fruit aromas and musky viognier lift. The palate's elegant and juicy with vivacious, sweet, ripe dark berry flavour, fine, easy tannins, mocha-flavoured oak and plenty of drink-now appeal.

The palate has youthful juicy appeal, some viognier richness, plenty of red berry flavour and fine open-knit tannins.
