Clonakilla Riesling

Jeremy Oliver (2013 Vintage) says
Beautifully poised and balanced, with a fragrant, pristine and slightly spicy and estery bouquet of lime juice, white flowers, lemon zest and a yeasty hint of tropical fruit that is certain to diminish. It's long and crystalline, with a penetrative, translucent presence of pure, vibrant fruit underpinned by a slatey minerality before finishing with a slight sweetness neatly balanced by a crunchy acidity. Wonderful freshness and focus.

Tyson Stelzer (2012 Vintage) says
The third cool, wet vintage in a row has done nothing to slow the illustrious pace of progress at the finest estate in the Canberra district. The precision and intensity on display here are captivating, with a powerful kaffir lime juice core encased in notes of wet slate and granny smith apples. It surges with great energy through a finish propelled by awe-inspiring, high-tensile acidity, underlain with fine, slatey mouthfeel. It will be fiercely long-lived.
Wine Taste Edition 83 2012
Nick Stock (2012 Vintage) says
Very fragrant and floral style with a light, bright lime blossom nose, clear citrus and a steely mine rally note; really bright and fragrant. The palate delivers pure, tangy citrus with bright, fleshy stone fruit flavour and a compact, clean and crisp finish, musky to close. Drink now and age to eight years plus.
Good Wine Guide 2013
James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
The floral bouquet has hints of spice and white blossom, giving little warning of the intensity and purity of the lime juice palate that follows, drawn out to an exceptional length by the refreshing acidity.
Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition 2013
Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
Long and lean, this focused, tightly sculpted and deeply perfumed riesling has a heady scent of white flowers, lavender, lime juice and lemon rind backed by a hint of fresh pear. It spiercing lyintense palate of crystalline lime, pear and apple flavour is underpinned by lemon sherbet-like chalkiness, finishing taut and steely, with a hint of minerality and a suggestion of sweetness neatly balanced by fresh acidity.

As precise, fine and long-lived as Canberra riesling has ever been, reflecting a cool season and the graphite-like minerality of its soils. Lime juice, crunchy granny smiths and perfumed lemon blossom.

Pale straw-green; a floral bouquet of apple blossom and spice yields to a palate with great drive to its lime juice flavours, which last long after the wine is swallowed. Right up there with the best of them.

A scintillating, fresh young riesling from Murrumbatemen that has a wealth of fine minerally aromas on the nose, some lime and lemon, and green apple too. The palate's bright, tangy and crisp, and mouth-watering acidity crunches through. It's dry, clean and unwaveringly linear.
The Good Wine Guide 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Evolved and complex, with slatey, smoky and mineral complexity beneath its aromas of white flowers, wet stones and lavender, and its fresh varietal presence of lemon, pear and lime juice fruit. Elegant and chalky, with pleasing length and shape, it finishes quite savoury, with an austere and racy cut of clear mineral acids.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A very distinctive style, this '08 Clonakilla smoulders with flint and deep aromatics. Ripe green apples and fine lime citrus aromas, it shows terrific lift and definition. The palate sets out in fine delicate form then gathers weight and richness, cut into shape by a flurry of acidity and savoury minerals. A stylish cool-climate masterpiece.
Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 2008
Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
Scented with lime and lavender, this shapely, mineral and tightly focused riesling complements its fresh but slightly oily flavours of pristine citrusy fruit with a fine-grained, chalky undercarriage. It's long, tangy and finely sculpted, with vibrant, crystal-clear fruit.
Australian Wine Annual 2008 2007
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Flint, apple, spice and citrus are all to be found in the bouquet; a particularly smooth and supple mouthfeel, without losing focus or elegance; good length and aftertaste
