Wine making is in the blood for Tom and Sam Barry whose family is responsible for the famous Jim Barry label from the Clare Valley. This is the younger generation of the Barry family spinning their own interpretations of the classic grape styles of the region. The Cemetery Block might sound a bit gory but it’s the name given to the patch of dirt where the Shiraz is sourced close to the local cemetery. Great Clare Valley styling with plum and chocolate aromas supplemented by seductive spice. Black fruits flood the palate with hints of coffee grounds and a firm tannin framework.

Winemaker's Notes

Just across the road from the Wtervale cemetery, with headstones listing a districts who's who, is our block of 15 year old shiraz. These vines are really hitting their straps to produce elegant perfumed fruit from the valley's cool micro climate.Let your nose look for hints of spicy anise, dark chocolate and Arabian spices over plum and mint flavours before the mouth is filled with crunchy black berry fruit and coffee overtones. These flavours are supported by finely intergrated tannins.

This vineyard is just across from the Watervale cemetery, and its shiraz has been crafted into a solid, tarry and oak-framed wine with deep dark berry and intense bitumen and tarry notes. The palate's quite chewy, tannins are fine, dense and drying, and dark fruits and nutty savoury flavours build through the finish. I'd recommend a slab of protein here!

This has a convincingly ripe nose of dark plums and berries, some chocolate and earthy nuances, gentle fragrance and toasty oak lift. The supple, ripe palate is packed with flavour and handy tannin chew - plums, dark fruit and chocolate mingle in shapely, supple tannins that are still on the build.
