Cloudy Bay Te Koko

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
Te Koko (the Maori name for Cloudy Bay) is also the name of the famous Marlborough winery's oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc (the 1992 vintage was labelled Sauvignon Greywacke Vineyard; the 1994 Sauvignon Motukawa Vineyard). The 1996 Te Koko is a totally non-herbaceous style with very ripe, passion fruit-like aromas. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 18 months in seasoned oak barriques, with full malolactic fermentation, it's a softly mouthfilling wine with lovely rich fruit characters shining through in a complex, slightly honied style, very weighty and distinctive.
