Cloudy Bay Te Koko White

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Te Koko o Kupe (the oyster dredge of Kupe) is the original name for Cloudy Bay; it is also the name of the famous Marlborough winery's innovative, oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc. The 2002 vintage was grown in five vineyards in the Wairau Valley (three company-owned), fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels and wood-aged on its yeast lees for 18 months, with full malolactic fermentation. Weighty and ripe, with a slightly toasty bouquet, it's deliciously rich, creamy and well-balanced, with tropical-fruit flavours seasoned with oak, sweet fruit delights and a minerally streak adding complexity. Te Koko is well outside the mainstream regional style of Sauvignon Blanc, but the 2002 vintage is lush and lovely - very easy to enjoy.
