Cobaw Ridge Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Strong colour; a complex bouquet of predominantly black fruits plus notes of leather, charcuterie and spice; the palate is likewise powerful, and very savoury; time to go.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Powerful, intense dark plum and accompanying black cherry; a long palate sustained by fine tannins; should develop very well with age.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Strong red-purple; clean, fresh, pure bouquet; light- to medium-bodied palate with small red fruits; still linear and needs to grow complexity.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
Ken Gargett (2004 Vintage) says
Visiting Alan Cooper, wife Nelly and their family at Cobaw Ridge is a bit like arriving on the set of an ' 80s sitcom, they're all so nice. I'm a newcomer to their wines but like all good converts, I'm now a card-carrying zealot. This fragrant, evocative, rose-petal-like pinot (and the forthcoming 2005 is just as good) has only one thing wrong. Not very much is made. Why? Because Nelly doesn't like pinot. In a real sitcom, she'd come round.
Don't Buy Wine Without Me 2008 2007
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Light to medium-bodied; wild strawberries, black cherries and spice; good balance and structure.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium to full purple-red, very deep for the variety; a complex bouquet of dark plum, spice and quality oak leads into an equivalently powerful, complex and rich palate, with great length. A bolt from the blue for me, and, so I gather, for Alan Cooper. The six-year-old pinot block was planted to a mix of MV6, 114 and 115 clones.
