James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Strong purple-red; co-fermented with a little viognier in a top Macedon vintage; it has all the fragrance and elegance one would hope for, with black cherry, plum, multi-spice and a sprinkle of cracket pepper, oak and tannins in synergistic balance.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Deep purple-crimson; a vibrant and intense wine, with a multiplicity of aromas and flavours ranging through plum, cherry, spice, pepper and licorice, all coming together on the mid- to back-palate.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Excellent, clear crimson-purple for age; a fine, elegant and restrained shiraz that emphasises its very cool climate origins; the palate is very long, but not intense; on the cusp of ripeness.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
It has a dab of viognier in it though a syrah in style it certainly is. Very much in the cool-climate, spicy mould, but it's integrated, balanced, sophisticated and appealing. Dominant black pepper notes combine with dark cherry, blackberries and mulch. Definitely a complex parade of flavours here and silken texture too. This is a cool, fresh, interesting wine.
