Collards Rothesay Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Who says you can't make classy Sauvignon Blanc in Auckland? Grown in Collards' Rothesay Vineyard at Waimauku, West Auckland, at its best this wine is outstandingly lush and robust. The 1998 vintage was partly fermented in French oak and 30 per cent of the final blend also went through a softening malolactic fermentation. It's a very finely balanced and stylish wine with good weight and impressively rich, delicate flavours of melons and passionfruit, with a slight herbal undercurrent. A ripely mouthfilling North Island style that is nevertheless deliciously fresh and vivacious, with clearcut varietal characteristics, it's a classy wine, sharply priced.
