James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Produced from vines planted in 1880, said to be the oldest in McLaren Vale, a claim others may challenge, but no matter-the vines are seriously old, and the wine is very good, awash with dark fruits, fine tannis and well-integrated French oak. May well outlive its cork.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Good hue for the vintage; 'Over the Hill' is inspired by the 'decrepit' look of the 140-year-old vines planted by the Hardy family; the wine can't entirely escape the clutches of the '07 vintage, but does have lots of black fruit and bitter chocolate on a long palate.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; a mix of spicy black fruits, regional chocolate and some sweet and sour notes; stained cork.
