Cooks Lot Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

It's a much underrated beast is Orange Chardonnay, a wine/grape combination that is not all that sexy in theory yet provides quite a deal of drinking pleasure. In this instance the joy is in the balance between nectarine/white peach richness and that often forgotten acidity. Toasty generosity vs dryness and length.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromatic papaya, pineapple and nougat follow thru to a crisp full-bodied palate with hints of vanilla. Malolactic fermentation, lees stirring and ageing on lightly toasted French oak adds complexity and length.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Vibrant green hue; an expressive melon and citrus bouquet, with a touch of nutty complexity; the palate is racy and shows plenty of lemony acidity and minerals to conclude.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Fresh, clean, well-defined varietal fruit in a stone fruit/citrus spectrum doesn't show heat from alcohol; subtle oak; developing slowly.
