Cracka Review

Shiraz is always going to be Australia’s favourite red variety and there’s rarely a winery that does not produce one. You’d think we’d get bored of it but thanks to regional diversity we see so many varying styles from cool to warm climate as well as medium-bodied to full on alcohol-driven monsters. This falls into the former category, a nicely medium style of red from Orange. It’s filled out with blackcurrant and spice and some chocolate notes before a long and lingering palate.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromatic blackberries, raspberries and spice with hints of pepper. An elegant structure with well-integrated toasted French oak augmenting complexity to the layers of raspberries, blackberries and spice.

Alcohol: 14%

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Bright purple-red; attractive medium-bodied wine, with black cherry, satsuma plum, spice and pepper on the supple, smooth palate; has admirable length and balance, oak a bystander.
James Halliday's top value wines $20 & under 2012
WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Lots of oak here. Leathery, earthy nose and sweet berry flavours under the oak, with the alcohol in balance.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Medium- to full-bodied, with plenty of upfront blackberry and plum fruit, then savoury tannins; good length.
