Michael Cooper (1995 Vintage) says
This is typically a rich, toasty and buttery wine in a very full-flavoured style. The 1995 vintage is a 50/50 blend of Marlborough Pinot Noir and Hawke's Bay Chenin Blanc. After its primary alcoholic fermentation in American oak casks, it was then bottle-fermented and matured on its yeast lees for two and a half years, before being disgorged in June 1998. It's a mouthfilling style with strong citrusy, buttery, toasty flavours, but the oak influence is very assertive.

Michael Cooper says
The current release is a non-vintage wine based entirely on Pinot Noir grown in Marlborough. Fermented and aged for a year on its gross lees in old hogsheads, then bottled and matured en tirage for a further three years, it's light yellow, refined and lively, with crisp, lemony, yeasty flavours showing good vigour and yeast-derived complexity. The best wine yet under this label.
