Coopers Creek The Little Rascal Gisborne Arneis

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2011 Vintage) says
Top vintages are richly scented, with substantial alcohol and strong, slightly spicy and herbal flavours. The 2010 is gently sweet (6 grams/litre of residual sugar), sturdy (14.5 per cent alcohol) and fleshy, with ripe, peachy, slightly spicy flavours and a soft, creamy texture. The 2011 is freshly scented, with very good depth of citrusy, vaguely herbal and nutty flavours, showing clear-cut varietal character. It's enjoyable from the start.

Spicy pear juice fragrances and well structured, balanced, palate with peppery elements.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
Flint-struck with rich clotted cream nuance enveloping the ripe citrus and stone fruits, along with hints of spiced poached pears, marzipan and nougat. Plenty of weight and texture in the mouth, clean, vivd flavours and a sprightly acid line add up to delicious drinking.

Who would have thought Arneis would perform so well in Gisborne? The 2008 vintage is a mouthfilling (14.5 per cent alcohol), dryish wine with a subtle, floral bouquet and fresh, lively, citrus and tropical-fruit flavours. It shows very good depth and harmony, with a slightly spicy finish.
