Corbans Cottage Block Ruahine Red Blend

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2004 Vintage) says
Youthful yet delicious, the 2004 vintage is a Hawke's Bay blend of 'highly structured' Cabernet Sauvignon (46 per cent) and Merlot (32 per cent), grown in the Gimblett Gravels, with 'softer and fleshier' Cabernet Franc (22 per cent), grown at Te Mata, Havelock North. Matured for a year in French oak barriques (40 per cent new), it is deeply coloured, intense and supple, with concentrated blackcurrant, olive and plum flavours. Fragrant, fleshy and warm, with savoury characters reminiscent of a fine Bordeaux, it's a very harmonious wine, unusually complex and rich.
