Corbans Private Bin Marlborough Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The instantly appealing, creamy-smooth 2001 vintage was fermented and matured on its yeast lees in French oak barriques (45 per cent new), and two-thirds of the blend had a softening malolactic fermentation. Toasty and mealy on me nose, it's a full-flavoured wine with generous melon and grapefruit characters, good savoury, nutty complexity and a rich, rounded finish.

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
At its best, this is a top-flight wine, but lately it's been slightly less impressive than its Private Bin stablemate from Gisborne. It is typically deep-flavoured and complex, with the steely, authoritative finish of Marlborough's top Chardonnays. The 1996 vintage was fermented and matured for 10 months in new and older French oak barriques. It's a steely, nutty wine with excellent depth of savoury, citrusy, appley flavours in a fairly complex style.
