More classic in style than last year's thumper. Nutty almond and cherry chocolate bar flavours with a sniff of leather. Medium-bodied, fresh, a bit too acidic, but we still like this wine - and its furry tannins tend to rein it all in anyway. There's something refreshing about this tasty red. It has us intrigued.

A brooding and reserved expression that gives a sense that it is only just revealing its true persona. This clonal seletion from Brunello in Tucsany smells of red berries and liquorice. The palate’s well-weighted to the middle with a gathering of tannin and sweet earthy, anise- tinged flavours.

Brunello clone' shouts the bold black and white label. Coriole was one of the early movers with sangiovese, if not the first, but this clone is a recent arrival. It has good colour and, at least in this vintage, offers a balance of varietal fruit and tannins. Much promise
