Coriole Redstone McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Redstone in the label refers to the red coloured ironstone found in the soil at Coriole in the McLaren Vale, this stone is also part of the old brick buildings at the winery dating back to 1860. This is the essence of the region and the kind of Cabernet we love. Laden with black fruit and full of choc malt flavours, it’s soft and gentle on the palate and complements rich dishes like lamb shanks or beef bourguignon.

Winemaker's Notes

The nose displays primary black fruits, cigar box and briary aromas. The palate is rich with dark chocolate, black fruits and rose petal. The cedar oak is well integrated and the finish is long and structural with firm tannins. Drinking well now, but will benefit with some additional time in bottle. Cellar for up to 10-15 years.

Coriole Redstone McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Even at this price a convincing demonstration of the suitability of the maritime climate of McLaren Vale for attractive cabernet that does not need extended cellaring, especially in a vintage such as '12; it has juicy cassis fruit, fine tannins and a whisper of oak
