Cracka Review

For well over 100 years the Crabtree site has been planted to vines in the heart of the Clare Valley. Today it’s very much the boutique operation with all fruit handpicked and even the vines have their own individual names. This is a Grenache Rosé that’s perfumed with strawberry, violets and spice before a palate that’s full of intense berry flavours and mouthwatering acidity. It’s the perfect antidote to a warm day and matched with some casual foods like salad or barbecued meat.

Winemaker's Notes

The fruit was hand picked, sorted and retained on skins for 48 hours to ensure full flavour and complexity. With a component naturally fermented in older French oak to support the cool ferment in tank, this Rose` shows lifted aromatics of strawberry and floral spice. With layers of red berry flavour and juicy fresh acidity, the palate is vibrant and refreshing.

Food Match: slightly chilled with mountains of fresh tapas and a spring in your step!

Crabtree Watervale Bay of Biscay Grenache Rose

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A grenache rose with bright light-red colour and a ripe, laid-back red-fruit and spice nose; hints of old wood lurking around too. The palate is at the softer, sweeter end of the spectrum, and has a solid core of juicy, tart red-berry flavour. Feels a bit manipulated but it does the trick.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Lovely fresh berry aromas and nice fruit on the long, well-balanced palate. A crowd pleaser.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bright, light fuschia; fragrant red cherry and raspberry fruit aromas flow into the palate, which is balanced by good acidity; from 62-year-old estate vines.

_This is a yardstick wine,î declared one judge. Smells of strawberry candies and has lovely depth of pure berry fruits with just the right amount of acidity.

Light red-purple; the bouquet is bright, clean and fresh, the palate not too sweet; a touch more fruit would have made an outstanding Rose.
