Craggy Range Les Beaux Cailloux Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The debut 2001 vintage is an unusually complex Hawke's Bay Chardonnay, with loads of personality. Based on first-crop, ultra low-yielding Gimblett Gravels vines, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts, lees-aged for over a year in French oak barriques (80 per cent new), with full malolactic fermentation, and bottled without fining or filtering. High-priced but very classy, it shows great texture, mouthfeel and depth, with a complex, earthy rather than fruity bouquet, layers of grapefruit, peach and slight butterscotch flavours, finely balanced acidity and a rounded, rich finish.
