Craggy Range Seven Poplars Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
Transcending the fresh, berry-fruit characters typical of Hawke's Bay Merlot, the 2000 vintage was grown in stony soils in the Seven Poplars Vineyard in the lower Dartmoor Valley, matured for 20 months in French oak casks (80 per cent new) and bottled without filtering. Deeply, although not densely coloured, it is fragrant, refined and subtle, with a lovely array of plummy, spicy, leathery flavours. A classic Merlot, it's not a demonstrative wine, but quietly satisfying, with a solid foundation of tannin. Drink now or cellar.
