Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
The 2009 vintage is a Hawke's Bay red, Merlot-based (80 per cent), with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Matured for 15 months in French oak barriques (22 per cent new), it is a delicious, drink-young style, deeply coloured, with concentrated blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, a hint of coffee, and good warmth, stuffing and structure.

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
The powerful but very approachable 2007 vintage is a Merlot-dominant blend (55 per cent), with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc (17 per cent), Malbec (14 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (13 per cent) and Petit Verdot (1 per cent). Grown in the Gimblett Gravels, Hawke's Bay, and matured for 20 months in French oak barriques (20 per cent new), it is dark and fragrant, with a generous, silky-smooth palate showing excellent concentration of cassis, plum and spice flavours and supple, ripe tannins. Drink now or cellar.
