Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
The powerful ('not for the faint-hearted', in the winery's words) 2002 vintage is a strapping (14. 5 per cent alcohol) Martin borough wine, fermented and lees-aged, with regular stirring, for 14 months in French oak barriques (half new). It's an upfront style, softly mouthfilling, peachy, buttery and rounded, but advanced for its age and slightly dominated by toasty oak. Delicious in its youth, the 2003 is light yellow, with rich, butterscotch aromas. It makes a powerful statement on the palate, with sweet fruit delights, refined acidity, toasty oak and lush, stone-fruit flavours, showing lovely freshness and delicacy. Drink now to 2006.
