Craigow Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
A nice, deep hue here for a young 2011. There s a leafy edge and a bright, ripe deep cherry nose that brings a sense of good ripeness, some plum and spice too. The palate s also quite bright, reasonable flesh, a little surge of acid, bright red fruit flavours and light tannins to close. Pre-bottling sample.
Good Wine Guide 2013
James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Strong colour; full-on ripe, luscious, rounded fruit in the heartland of Tasmanian pinot noir in '10; has good development potential.
Australian Wine Companion 2013 2012
Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
The 2010 Craigow Pinot Noir has a ripe, earthy and slightly leathery nose, with plenty of savoury characters ruling the roost ahead of mixed forest berries and leaves. The palate s quite solid, with dense and juicy plum flavours, and acid striding out through the finish. A little more time to integrate will bring the best results.
Good Wine Guide 2013
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Very good depth, purple-crimson; dense, deep, full-bodied, with swathes of black fruits; will be long lived.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Good colour; rich but succulent and smooth cherry, plum and spice; good balance and length; the only question is the amount of oak.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Extremely deep colour and stacked with all the flavour the colour suggests; completely locked up, and will take time for the pinot varietal character to express itself. Pending release.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Savoury, spicy, forest floor underneath cherry and plum fruit; good length, and still developing, as is the excellent '03 Pinot.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Amazing hue retention, still bright, light purple; a similarly fresh and vibrant palate with cherry/raspberry fruit; the tannins have subsided markedly; nonetheless intense and long.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium red-purple; very ripe cherry fruit aromas, almost essency, lead into an intense palate with a mix of cherry and spice on the one hand, and leaf and mint on the other. Something of a Curate's Egg, but the good bits definitely outweigh the other bits.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Some colour development, but still remarkable hue; from a great Tasmanian vintage for pinot; spice, cherry and plum with some forest floor notes. Has time to go yet.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium to full purple-red; the bouquet is solid and ripe, with dark plum fruit cascading over into the rich, full and sweet palate. The wine has literally eaten the oak.
