Cross Roads Cabernet Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Typically a decent, very enjoyable Hawke's Bay red. The 1998 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70 per cent), Cabernet Franc (15 per cent) and Merlot (15 per cent), matured for 15 months in seasoned French oak casks. Mouthfilling, full-coloured and chewy, it has an array of flavours - blackcurrants, prunes, mint and nuts - leading to a firmly tannic finish. I found it a bit disjointed in mid-2000, with more flavour than finesse.

Typically a decent, very enjoyable Hawke's Bay red. The 1996 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70 per cent), Cabernet Franc (15 per cent) and Merlot (15 per cent), matured in seasoned French oak. It's a very approachable wine, ripe and fruity, with plenty of plummy, rounded flavour.
