Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
The 1999 vintage of this Hawke's Bay red was grown at Bay View and Fernhill, and matured for 22 months in French and American oak barrels (40 per cent new). It shows good colour intensity, very satisfying depth of blackcurrant-like flavours and a firm backbone of tannin.

An easy-drinking style with depth, the 1998 vintage of this Hawke's Bay red has rich, youthful colour and smooth, ripe blackcurrant and plum flavours. Mouthfilling and very ripe-tasting, it's a vibrantly fruity, plummy wine, marrying sweet fruit with sweet oak.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; a quite complex bouquet has a mix of cedar, vanilla and cinnamon spice over red berry fruit. The palate offers more savoury characters, with cedar and mint both evident, and I prefer the wine to the Talisman of the same vintage.

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
French oak-aged for two years, the 1996 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (40 percent), Cabernet Franc (18 per cent) and Merlot (42 per cent). A weighty wine with medium-full colour, it possesses ripe fruit characters, plenn of plummy, nutty flavour and a smooth finish. It's an attractive, quite rich and complex wine, delicious now onwards.
