Dandelion Vineyards Fairytale of the Barossa Rose

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

A rather serious rosé this one. Serious but not (all at once). In other words it's dry and long but also with a hint of sweetness, a wine of juiciness but also elusive texture. It's no Bandol Rose but it is a very tasty full flavoured pink wine.

Winemaker's Notes

The aromatics are true to type, initially delicate, even shy. Then as the glass warms a melange of spices including cardamom with hints of Lily of the Valley and Pomander that emanating from the core. The palate has drying raspberry entry followed by raspberries more fresh and zingy. All in all a long palate that really saturates your taste buds with flavour. Please serve chilled. Don’t serve this wine at room temperature or much of the magic of the Fairytale will be lost.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Produced from 85-year-old estate-grown grenache, hand-picked, with free-run juice wild yeast fermented in old French barriques with 12 weeks less contact, then pressing without malolactic fermentation and bottled without finning or filtration - a brave call. Pale bright puce, it has a vibrent bouquet and palate, with the full kit and caboodle of small red fruits, the finish long crisp and dry. Worth the price. 13.5%
