Danny Schuster's regional blend (up to and including the 1999 vintage labelled Canterbury Pinot Noir), is designed for earlier drinking than the top label (above). The attractive 2001 vintage is a blend of grapes from the Petrie vineyard near Rakaia and Omihi Hills vineyard at Waipara. Matured for a year in seasoned French oak casks, it's a ruby-hued wine with fresh plum and strawberry aromas. A fruit-driven sryle, it is full-flavoured and supple, with vibrant fruit characters, a gentle oak influence and plentv of drink-young appeal.
