If you're after a proper vintage port, this is without a doubt the best value example on the market. This year's is a particularly interesting release. 2006 RELEASE Gosh it's nice to tuck into this - this is why I look forward to the cooler months. It tastes of chocolate and menthol, sour cherries and plums, its sweetness obvious but totally delicious. If you look hard you see notes of charcuterie, marzipan and burnt sugar. But really - we're talking hedonism here. Its complexity barely matters. DRINK 2008-2016.

A traditionally sweet Australian 'vintage port' style packed with brambly, mouthfilling fruit supported by fine, loose-knit tannins and steeped in wonderful old brandy spirit. It's scented with deep, confiture-like layers of small black and red berries, plums and dark chocolates lifted by aromas of pepper, licorice and espresso. Sumptuous and velvet-like, it's long and luscious but beautifully honed down its firm, drying backbone.
